Betty went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2021.

Betty and her twin brother, Bob, were born in Denver, Colorado on December 28, 1930. When the twins were three years old, they were adopted by Bess Knox Kidder and Ray Walden Kidder, and the family resided in Denver for several years. Betty and Bob attended elementary school and junior high school in Denver. During WW II, when her uncle was deployed, Betty's dad moved the family to Dallas, TX, in order to run her uncle's business during his absence.

Betty graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and attended Colorado Women's College. It was there, on a blind date, that she met a handsome Army soldier and her husband-to-be, Delane Schieferstein. The couple was married on October 5, 1951 in Cox Chapel of Highland Park Methodist Church, and they lived in Ft. Bragg, N. Carolina until Delane's Army commitment was completed. Afterwards, they spent a brief time living in Rapid City, South Dakota and welcoming their daughter before settling in Dallas, where they resided for some 45 years. Betty and Delane enjoyed 69 years of loving marriage, until Delane's death on December 4, 2020. The marriage was blessed with two children: a daughter and a son.

While the children were small, Betty was a stay-at-home mom, but later she held positions at well-known companies in the Metroplex, including Nissan Corp., State Farm Insurance, The American Heart Association, and Dr Pepper/Snapple. She also worked alongside Delane in his business, Lane's Charcoal Burgers, for several years, and later she worked from home while caring for her elderly mother.

Betty was a Camp Fire Girls leader and bred Wire Haired Fox Terrier dogs for many years. She shared an interest with Delane in antique cars, and that led to her participation in the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club, as well as membership in the Horseless Carriage Club and The Antique Automobile Club of America. She loved crafting, especially crochet, making plastic canvas items and beaded ornaments. She also loved playing the organ, making jelly and working on jigsaw puzzles. After Delane's retirement, the couple returned to Rapid City, South Dakota, Delane's hometown, where they resided until their passing.

Betty is survived by her daughter, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, sister-in-law, twin brother and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Kirk Funeral Home at 1051 East Minnesota Street, Rapid City, SD. Services will be on Thursday, April 8, 2020 on at 11:00 AM also at Kirk Funeral Home. Interment in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 852324, Richardson, TX 75085.
