Mary Ann Olinger, 81, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.

Mary attended Darthula Baptist Church until she was unable due to her health. She retired from Kingsport Press where she worked at the Sherwood Plant. She loved her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age. One of her favorite passages of scripture is PSALM 23. She met life's adversities with great courage knowing that Jesus was by her side and the outcome was in his hands. And so she has come through this last of her struggles in this life having victory in Jesus. She will be greatly missed by all her family, special friends, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Warner C. Culbertson; parents, Rev. Charlie C. and Mattie Salyers; 6 brothers, James, Harold, Charles, Carl, Don, and Walmer Salyers; 2 sisters, Virginia Bledsoe and Nadine Robinette.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, James E. (Earling) Olinger; sons, Jacob C. Culbertson (Rose Mary), Tim A. Culbertson (Melissa); grandchildren, Jacob D. (Daniel) Culbertson (Amanda), Samuel Glen Culbertson (Qwynne), Troy A. Culbertson (Haley); great-grandchildren, Kahner A. Culbertson, Hailey A. Culbertson, Ava E. Culbertson; brother, Fred R. Salyers; sisters-in-law, Shirley Salyers and Mildred Salyers; step-nephew, Terry Olinger; step-Grand-niece, Rachel Beasley; several other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of 5th floor ICU and W-3 Wilcox Hall of Ballad Health Holston Valley Hospital, Amedisys Hospice staff and nurses, Glenda Grant (Special Niece) for their care and support for Mrs. Olinger during this time of illness. The family is so thankful for the prayers of our church families, Christian brothers and sisters during this time of great sorrow. Please continue to remember the family in prayer as we grieve and mourn our loss. We know our beloved, Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Friend, Neighbor is in a far better place now where there is no more sorrow or suffering. We look forward to reuniting with her one day.
