Mrs. Marx graduated from Mocksville High School in 1941 and graduated from U.N.C.G. Womens' College with a bachelor's degree with a teaching certificate in home economics. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mocksville and loved her church and church family dearly. Mrs. Marx enjoyed reading, sewing, and loved making a home for her family. She loved gardening and maintained gardens large enough to feed her family from. Dorothy had a passion for music, often playing the piano and singing with her beautiful voice. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harry Marx; two sons, William Marx and Richard Harry Marx, Jr.; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Marx; Maryanne Leagans, James Marx, Deborah Richmond (James), Dorothy Bevins (Kevin), Michael Marx, Lisa Collis, Thomas Marx, and Robert Marx; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be conducted in Eatons Baptist Church Cemetery, with a public memorial service to follow at a later date.
