Joan J. Koppa, age 89, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021 at Tender Reflections Assisted Living of Manitowoc.
She was born February 14, 1932 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Stanley and Othelia (Matysik) Powalish. Joan attended and graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On July 31, 1954 she married Daniel L. Koppa Sr. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1993. Over the years Joan was employed as a domestic engineer at Shady Lane and as a general laborer with Lakeside Foods. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed puzzles, listening to polka music, going to the casino, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by four children: Kathleen (Gary) Tollefson, Debra A. Geffers, Daniel Koppa Jr., and Anthony (Katherine) Koppa, all of Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: Nathan (Kourtney) Tollefson, Melissa Tollefson, Jacob Tollefson, Craig Lambries, Tanya Lambries, Tyler Lambries, Daniel ( fiancé Marina) Koppa, Tanya (Steven) Teserak and Cheyenne (Russell) Popour; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother: Joseph Powalish, Manitowoc; her sister: Doris Pupak, Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Mickey Koppa, Tomah; and a special family friend, Lynn Wagner, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband: Daniel Koppa, Sr.; her parents: Stanley and Othelia Powalish; her sister: Mary Jane (Frank) Koppa; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank and Martha Koppa; two brothers-in-law: Walter Koppa and Frank Pupak; sister-in-law, Arisle Koppa; and one nephew, Thomas Koppa.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Jason Blahnik. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc.
