Cecil L. Ussery, 75, died Aug. 7, 2005, in Edmonds, Wash., after a long battle with both heart disease and Parkinson's disease.

His remains will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Thursday at a graveside service at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.

He was born June 22, 1930, in Baker, Ore., to Tecumseh and Pearl Ussery. He attended schools in Boise.

Mr. Ussery made a career of 48 years in the retail business and served as a manager and buyer for several companies. His employment took him to Idaho, Alaska, Washington state and finally California, where he eventually retired before moving back to Washington state.

He spent 20 years in Anchorage, from the early '60s to the early '80s. He first worked at Caribou Department Store in Mountain View. He then spent many years at Koslosky's as a manager/buyer for the store and fitter of men's suits.

"Cecil was well-respected by friends and fellow employees," his family wrote. "He was a devout follower of Christ and was a member of the Mill Creek Four Square Church in Lynnwood, Wash.

Mr. Ussery is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sophia of Lynnwood; son, Mike Ussery and wife, Claudia, of Anchorage; daughters, Susan Ussery Kelley and husband, Steve, of Edmonds, and Roben and husband Jerry Collins of Palmer; six grandchildren, Sarai and husband Jon Larson of Everett, Wash., Abigail and husband Martin Jimenez of San Francisco, Michelle and husband Tyler Ambrozic of Seattle, Renee Ussery of Bellevue, Wash., Danielle and husband Charlie Chapman of Palmer, and Dustin Collins of Palmer; two great-granddaughters, Emily and Katherine Larson of Everett; sisters, Maxine Ussery and Donna Whalen of Gresham, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ussery was preceded in death by seven siblings and his grandson, Travis Ussery.

Arrangements are with the Neptune Society in Everett.
