Barry was born April 11, 1948 in Louisville, KY the son of Rev. William R. and Vera Louise Myers Martin. He married Kathy Briney March 22, 1969 in Charleston, IL.
Barry was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. Following graduation he was a high school teacher in Effingham where he taught Speech Class and English Class. He was also the assistant football and golf coach and he was coach of the speech team. Following his teaching career he pursued his dream of being a comedian and became a well know professional comedian. He performed in clubs in Springfield and across the country and was a regular performer on the Bob and Tom Show. He also performed for various benefits.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Springfield; one son: Darby A. (wife, Kim) Martin of Springfield; one daughter: Karly Martin of Springfield; one granddaughter: Cicely Leonetti of Springfield; father: Rev. William R. Martin of White Hall; one sister; Kathy J. Newingham of Greenfield; one brother: Randy K. (wife, Diana) Martin of Springfield; mother-in-law: Pauline Briney of Findlay and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews
Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2003. Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
