Susan Munroe Stowe , wife of Charles E. Stowe, a retired Congregational clergyman, died at her home, 35 Slocum Crescent, Forest Hills Gardens. Her mother-in-law was the famous author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Susan was a daughter of Charles W. and Susan Wise Munroe and moved with her parents in her infancy to Cambridge, Mass., where she lived for years. Susan married Charles Edward Stowe on 26 May 1879 in Cambridge, Mass and they had three children. Susan wrote an article entitled "Harriet Beecher Stowe as Mother" which was published in the May 4, 1899 issue of SMS Youth Companion magazine.

In addition to her husband she was survived by one son, Lyman B. Stowe of the editorial staff of Doubleday, Page & Co. of Garden City; one daughter, Hilda, two bothers, Kirk Munroe, a prominent writer of Miami, Fla. and Frederick JM Munroe, of Huntington, formerly editor of Brooklyn Life and one sister, Elizabeth Putnam, the wife of Herbert Putnam, librarian of the Congressional Library at Washington , DC. Elizabeth is buried in the same plot. Susan's husband Charles moved to Santa Monica, Calif. after his wife's death. He married Elizabeth Holmes in 1930 and passed away in Santa Barbara, CA in 1934.
