Vaughn L. Johannessen, Jr. a long time Rushville resident, passed away September 18, 2019 in Rushville. Vaughn was born December 8, 1927 in Berwyn, IL to Vaughn L., Sr and Adelaide (Rice) Johannessen. He was a 1945 graduate of Cranford High School in Cranford, NJ, received his BS in Chemistry in 1950 from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and eventually received his MBA from Indiana University in 1985.
Vaughn was a US Army veteran and served in WW2.
He married Marilyn Dora on September 6, 1952 and she survives.
Vaughn worked for Kingham Meats in research and then spent many years in sales working for Microsoft and Porter Paint.
He was a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he served as trustee. He was a former member of the Church of the Savior in Indianapolis where he and Marilyn lived for many years before moving to Rushville nearly 30 years ago.
Vaughn enjoyed working in his woodworking shop and spending time on the golf course.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, of Rushville, he is survived by his daughters, Kristin (Norman) Klapper of Brentwood, CA and Karen (Jim) Durrant of Galena, IL, a brother, Lloyd (Betsy) Johannessen of Richmond, VA, a sister, Mary Ripma of Cleveland, OH, grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Marchase, Kristin (Dave) Mehl, Aaron Klapper and Sarah (Ryan) Garvin and great grandchildren, Samantha & Colin Garvin, Emily & Allison Mehl and Jake & Katie Marchase.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 22, 2019 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Lonnie Goen presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family one hour prior to service at the mortuary on Sunday. Private burial will take place at the families convenience.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
