Kathy was born July 27, 1954 to Clarence and Harriet (Van Beek) Mast in Volga, SD. She graduated from Volga Christian School and Sioux Valley High School. She received her Bachelors degree from Dordt College and Masters degree from Augustana College. Kathy taught special needs children at Hope Haven in Rock Valley, IA and in Floresville, TX, before moving to Okinawa, Japan, where she taught second grade. After 20 years of teaching, she received a medical retirement.
In 1996, Kathy and her husband moved back to Volga. While in Volga, Kathy both tutored students and substitute taught at Sioux Valley High School.
Survivors include her parents, Clarence and Harriet Mast, of Volga; son, Marvin (T.D.) Richardson, III, of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha, of Phoenix, Arizona; four sisters: Patricia Mast, Deb (Wayne) Ulvestad, Linda (Randy) Gross, all of Volga, and Kimberly (Kip) Kludt, of Watertown, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Lisa (Pete) DeVries, of Gretna, Nebraska; five nieces, Sasha, Cassie, Colette, Andrea, and Brittany; and four nephews, Ty (Meagan), Trevor, Nick, and Jordan; a helper and friend, Emilie Dykhouse, of Volga; and her mother-in-law, Anne Worsham Richardson Paczek, of Charleston, South Carolina.
Memorial services will be Monday, June 18, 2007, at First Reformed Church in Volga, preceded by interment at Trinity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church, Hope Haven, or the Volga First Responders.
