Bonnie C. Prideaux, 89 of Girard, passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m., April 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Bonnie was born July 11, 1931 in Walnut, Kansas, a daughter of Virgil E. and Letha H. (Oldham) McDermed.

She grew up in Girard and attended schools there, graduating from the Girard High School.

Bonnie married Floyd M. "Bud" Prideaux on June 1, 1949 in the Kincade Baptist Church in Girard. Bud preceded her in death on September 2, 2007.
She worked as an officer of the First National Bank in Girard before retiring as a Vice President in 1995.
Bonnie was an active member of the First Christian Church in Girard where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a Committee and Board Member for 46 years. She was a member of the Olive Chapter No. 13, Order of the Eastern Star of Fort Scott, formerly the Electa Chapter No. 23 of Girard, and advisor to the Rainbow Girls of Girard in 1948. She was a Hospice volunteer for several years and a Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader in Girard for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Cinda Holmes, and her husband, Roger, of Webb City, Missouri; her sons, Rick Prideaux, and his wife, Diane, of Girard and Tony Prideaux, and his wife, Julie, of Lawrence;
9 grandchildren; Troy Pease (Wendy Tucker), Chad Pease (Christy), Peggy Mills (Curtis), Angie Brumback (James), Tracy Mushonga (Tendai), Andrew Prideaux (Cara), Marti Higdon (Tyler), Madisonne and Landon Prideaux, 16 great-grandchildren; Quentin and Matthew Pease, Ashley (Paul Funk) and Taylor Barry, Christopher Mills, Joshua and Cierra Brumback, Samantha Mushonga (Brett Jameson), Tinasha and Nathan Mushonga, Nathan and Lucas Prideaux, Zemira, Zaxton and Zayden Higden; 5 great-great-grandchildren; Brinkley and William Brumback, Sophia, Hunter and Raylyn Jameson, her sister, Margaret Nelson, of Cherokee, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Debra Prideaux of Hays, Kansas. Bonnie was preceded by her parents, brothers, Robert McDermed, Harold McDermed, Charles E McDermed, and Paul McDermed

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday the 22nd at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home; Olive Chapter No. 13 O.E.S. will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m.; friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m., Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be given to Living Faith Church of the Nazarene or the First Christian Church of Girard and these may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
