Mary Abbe, daughter of Col. Robert Morrison Abbe and Mary (Northrup) Smead Abbe, married Charles Fremont Witter on 12 April 1890 at Le Roy, New York. Charles Witter was the son of Alvin Reed Witter, who died in Pavillion, New York at the home of his daughter Mary Esther (Witter) Holbrook, and Mary Esther (Witter) Witter, who died in Le Roy, New York in 1886.

The known children of Mary and Charles Witter were:

Esther - b. 1891 - d. 1957; m. Kenneth Kinch Knapp
Robert Fremont - b. 1897 - d. 1973

After the death of his first wife Mary, Charles Witter remained a widower until he married, second on September 7, 1915, Henrietta Julia Elizabeth, daughter of John and Louisa Zankel, and widow of J. Henry Koppell. He died April 14, 1920 in Syracuse, New York.
