Cora was a 1971 graduate of Day Adult High School. She was an inactive member of Irvington Presbyterian Church. Cora worked as a bank teller at Bank One, retiring after 24 years. She then went to work for Modern Photo where she worked for nearly six years before retiring a second time. Cora's work history also includes Ushering at Market Square Arena for 11 years, Home Interiors demonstrator and G.C. Murphy's in Fountain Square.
She was fond of watching television and her favorite shows consisted of cooking and home improvement. Cora loved hosting family holiday dinners in her earlier years and attending them later in life. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially her great granddaughter, MaKenzie. Cora took pleasure in taking care of others. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Cora is survived by her loving children, Debbie (Randy) Groce and John (Kim) Holt, Jr.; grandchildren, John Holt III, Brian (Amanda) Groce and Nathaniel Holt; great grandchildren: MaKenzie, Chole, Dylan, Ezra, Hannah, Ty, Brayden, Tim, Sylvia and Bentley; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Ballard and Opal Ballard; and cousin, Norma Cain. As well as many step-children, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Corie was preceded in death by her brothers, William Ballard, Sr., Melvin Ballard and Henry Ballard, Jr. and five infants. She also was preceded by her ex-husband, John Holt, Sr.; sons, Timothy Holt and infant twins; granddaughter, Megan Holt; great grandsons, Felix and Gabriel Groce; and sister-in-laws, Minnie Ballard, Violet Ballard, Norma Ballard and Catherine Ballard.
