Services for Mrs. Emma Beck, 86, who died Sunday at her home in Rapid City, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Behrens Mortuary with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery.

Mrs. Beck was born Sept. 8, 1888 in Minneapolis. At the age of 12 she moved with her parents to the Black Hills.

In 1908 she married Jacob Beck in Rapid City. They lived in Piedmont until 1924 when they moved to Rapid City.

Mrs. Beck was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Rebekah Lodge and Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958 and a son Ralph, in 1920. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

*** Her mother, stepfather, Matt Koar, and brother Henry came to the Black Hills in 1897. They traveled in a covered wagon and a buggy and camped in tents at night. Her stepfather had a cattle ranch on Elk Creek but they lived in Piedmont. Emma and Henry attended school there.
