Chief Warrant Officer John R. Pinelli died aboard the USS Wisconsin at Brest, France. During his 16-year Navy career, he had served aboard the battleships Wisconsin, New Jersey and Oklahoma and the cruisers Indianapolis, Northampton, Boston and Rochester.

He held three citations from the Navy for his development of a radio and radar speed key, for keeping his ship in communications while under heavy fire in Korean waters and for outstanding duty during during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Frascella Pinelli of 38 High Street, Trenton, NJ; his father, Erminio Pinelli; one brother, Fred Pinelli; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles J. Valenza and Mrs. Chris Arvenitis.
