She was preceded in death by her parents, Asbury Cleveland Wellborn and Frances Letitia Cowan Wellborn; and her husband, The Reverend Dr. Alva Mayes Gregg.
She is survived by her daughter, Hope Gregg Spillane (William Michael Spillane) of Columbia, SC.; her son, Asbury Wellborn Gregg (Sandra George Gregg) of Wimberley, Texas; her grandchildren, Amanda Carlisle Gregg of Houston, Texas, Margaret Gregg Brooks (Tony Don Brooks) of Oklahoma City, OK, Elizabeth Page Spillane of Knoxville, TN, and William Gregg Spillane of Columbia, SC; and her great-granddaughter, Allie Carlisle Brooks.
She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, in 1930. She was an active member of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, The United Daughters of the Confederacy, The National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, Daughters of the American Colonists, The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, United States Daughters of Eighteen Hundred Twelve, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars, The National Society Magna Charta Dames, Southern Dames of America, and Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century.
Visitation was held Wednesday, March 12, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, LA. After a family graveside service, the Memorial Service was held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church. Honorary pallbearers were Milton Kidd, III, Jesse Odom, Bob Wheeler, Craig Thomson. and Eddie Bodin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agnes Scott College, Grace Presbyterian Church, or Starlight Symphony, Wimberley, Texas. (www.starlightsymphony.org).
