Cathryn Jo Douglas, 42, of Rochester, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2007) in Rochester, after a lengthy illness with bipolar disorder.
She was born March 22, 1965, in Rochester. She received a B.A. in International Studies and French from Mankato State University in 1994, and traveled to Italy and France for continued studies. She attended violin programs at the University of Indiana and Meadowmount, N.Y., and was a lifelong student of classical music, foreign affairs and Egyptology. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rochester.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy "Nan" Douglas of Rochester; a sister, Nancy Margaret Douglas of Kent, Ohio; and a brother, William S. Douglas of St. Peter, Minn. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Carter Lynn Douglas; her father, Dr. William W. Douglas; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Classon and Dr. and Mrs. W.S. Douglas.
The family requests memorials to Mayo Clinic to support bipolar disorder research. Please make them to the attention of Dr. Mark Frye.
