Jacob Seibel, Former County Resident, Drowned at Hibbing, Minn. Sunday
Death by drowning was the fate of Jacob Seibel, a former Manitowoc County man and brother of William E. Seibel, of the Seibel Clothing Co., of this city, the fatal accident having occurred at Hibbing, Minn., where Mr. Seibel resided, the dispatch telling of the death bringing mere announcement of the tragedy. W.E. Seibel, this city and Frank and John Seibel of Two Rivers, brothers, will go to Hibbing tonight.
Jacob Seibel, who was 45 years of age was a native of Kossuth, this county and for years resided in that town and at Two Rivers, leaving here twenty-five years ago since which time he had made his home in several cities, locating at Hibbing a number of years ago. Mr. Seibel had retired from active business and owned considerable property at Hibbing. The accident which resulted in Mr. Seibel's death occurred Sunday, messages being received by the family this morning.
Mr. Seibel was married and a widow and one child survive him at Hibbing. six brothers, William, this city, Frank and John, Two Rivers, Peter and Anton of Rhinelander and Joseph Seibel of Marinette and two sisters, Mrs. Michael Wimmer, Mil., and Miss Mary Seibel of Two Rivers also survive. It is probable that the burial will be held at Hibbing though the brothers may bring the body here to be buried at the old home in Kossuth. Mr. Seibel had visited in the county on frequent occasions and was well and favorably known and news of his untimely and shocking death will be regretted.

Late Jac. Seibel and Drowned Companions Buried with Ceremonies
One of the greatest obsequies ever held in that portion of the country was held at Hibbing, Minnesota when the bodies of the drowned residents of the city, including Jacob Seibel, a former county resident occurred. The entire town of 10,000 people turned out to honor the dead and the city in general took off to mourn.
According to reports the body of the Manitowoc County man was the first found by the searching party and the others were found only after a diligent search. The body of the guide has as yet not been recovered. When found the bodies of the dead men had to be packed overland as the country is a wild one.
