POW 1/8/1864 in Fauquier County, VA.; confined Brandy Station, VA.; received 2/24/1864 at Old Capitol Prison, Wash., D.C.; hospitalized with tonsillitis 3/26 - 5/4/1864 in Old Capitol Prison U.S.A. Hospital; received 6/17/1864 at Fort Delaware, DE.; took Oath of Allegiance there on 6/21/1865 & released.
Postwar, married to Mildred Robinson on 04/24/1877, he was employed at Flemming County Farmer's Bank, 1879; lived in Tilton, Flemming Co., KY.
Mosby's Cavalry Regiment, formerly the 43rd Battalion, was organized in December, 1864. The battalion was formed in June, 1863, with five companies, later increased to eight. The unit served behind Federal lines in Northern Virginia and was the most effective command of its kind. The enemy forces were never safe and the area became known as "Mosby's Confederacy".
