David Niles Tillinghast, more widely known as "Dave", age 67, passed away peacefully Monday, April 19th 2021. Born August 7th, 1953 in Springfield Ohio, second son of Bruce and Catherine (Flannigan) Tillinghast.

David was proud of his achievements as state wrestling champion for Colerain High school as well as his service in the United States Marine Corps. He also enjoyed reading voraciously which allowed him to keep his title as family scrabble master only second to Bruce. But most notably for his dedication to his family. Words cannot express his loyalty, honestly, and his abundant love. Those who knew him, know this of him. David was formidable, witty, and warm. He was legendary.

He will be genuinely and immensely missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have known him. He was our rock, our compass, and our truth. An outstanding and dedicated father and son, and an even more amazing grandfather, absolutely throwing himself into the joy of having his family. We cannot begin to enumerate the ways that we have each deeply and unconditionally felt his love for us that could never be replaced by anyone other than him. He helped to define all those he touched and his ripples will be evident for generations to come.

David is survived by his mother, Catherine Mokry, and his daughter, Amber Colette Tillinghast. Grandfather extraordinaire to Autumn and her significant other, Brandon, Cecily Inabelle, August Liam Niles, Atlas Dae Louis and great granddaughter, Vivienne Valentine. All of which he shared extremely colorful and love filled relationships with.

Brother to Mark (Tim), Joel, Andrew (Jane), William, and Caroline (Mohaamed), who each have their own fond tales to tell of their lives and times with him. Additionally, he was a thoughtful uncle to Roxann, his only niece, and her children. Last but not least, his only nephew, Benjamin.

Proceeded in death by his father and stepmother, Bruce and Doris Tillinghast, and brother, William.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M. all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home 215 Broadway Street Harrison, Ohio 45030.
