Joseph was a carpenter by trade when the enumeration was taken in the city of Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan on July 31, 1850 for the Second Ward. He was married to Elenor and was the father of seven children at this time. All the children were born in Michigan except the first child, a daughter who was born in Ohio. Joseph and his wife could not read and write the English language, but all the children did and were attending school.
Joseph LaPointe was buried from St. Mary's Church, Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan on June 4, 1852.
"Church records: age 45 , born in Bas Canada, resided Monroe, unexpected death."
Burial was in the second cemetery of St. Mary's Church, now called Old Burial Ground on Findagrave. Joseph most likely does not have a marker, as the state went through and most markers were destroyed. But a few have been found since the last canvass of the small cemetery.
