Geraldine Cook Griffin was born July 11, 1926, in Chicago, IL; to Otis and Lillie Dickens Cook.
She graduated high school to pursue a nursing program and became a registered nurse. She attended Cook County School of Nursing and graduated in 1948.
After completing her education she united in marriage to Alva Glen Griffin. To this union, three children were born.
Over the years she had several nursing positions such as hospital, nursing home care, alcohol/Substance abuse, and mental health.
Geraldine enjoyed attending church with her family. She played Pokeno with her neighborhood friends, Juanita Campbell, Estelle Williamson, Barbara Callahan, and Mary Frances Thompson. She loved family vacations, camping, and shopping.
In 1985, Geraldine became an Independent Mary Kay beauty consultant and shared skincare and makeup ideas with her friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Glen; parents, Otis and Lillie; sister, Corthena Cook; and brother, Otis Wilson.
She is survived by two daughters, Corthena V. (Verdis) Wesley of Las Vegas, NV; and Alvalynn Griffin of Phoenix, AZ; and one son, Peter Griffin of Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Robert Earl (Matilda) of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
She lived life to the fullest and when asked how she was doing, she would say "I'm living that good thing."
