Mrs. Sam Evans Is Claimed By Death
Funeral Service Held This Afternoon-Interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Alice Poston Evans, wife of Mr. Sam Evans, of Salisbury, died Sunday morning at 8 o'clock at Long's Sanatorium, where she had been under treatment. The funeral service was conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of Mrs. Evans' sister, Mrs. Scott Hair, on David Avenue, and interment was in Oakwood cemetery. Rev. C A Rhyne, of Salisbury, was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. H J Bradley, pastor of Race Street Methodist church. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, four children, Catherine, Sam, Jr., Milton and Frank Evans; by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. R S Poston, of this city; and the following brothers and sisters, Mr. J W Poston, Durham; Mr. J E Poston, Mooresville; Mrs. O L Leagan, Hazelwood; Mrs. C O Kennerly, Mrs. Scott Hair, Mrs. J E Little, and Messrs. H A, H S and Fred Poston, all of Statesville.
Mrs. Evans was 39 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Evans were former residents of Statesville, but had been living in Salisbury for the past several years.
