Iver John Gunderson, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Chapel ten miles south of Bagley, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at Bagley City Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

He was born on December 20, 1931 in Reliance, South Dakota to Gust and Emma (Monson) Gunderson, the youngest of 6 children. The family moved to Jenkins, MN in 1933. In 1942 the family moved to LaPrairie Township and farmed. He attended school at the Fletcher School near the farm. He worked at many different jobs before entering the US Army in 1952 during the Korean War. He took his basic training in Fort Bliss, Texas. He spent the rest of his time in Tackawa Air Base in Japan. He was honorably discharged in July, 1954. He was in the Army Reserves for 5 years and discharged with the rank of Corporal.
Iver married Alice Evermoen on March 3, 1956. To this union four sons were born- Michael, Curtis, Bruce, and Brian. They formed a partnership in 1958 with his brother Nels, and farmed together, where they raised their family. They sold the farms in 1999 and moved to Bagley. Iver restored three old tractors and built many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and Grace Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Gunderson; his children, Michael Gunderson, Curtis (Darlene) Gunderson, Bruce (LouAnn) Gunderson, and Brian (Linda) Gunderson; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; his sister, Doris Fultz; and many other loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Emma Gunderson; an infant brother, Arlo; and his siblings, Nels, Rollo, and Helen.
