Frank was raised on the Cahill Ranch in Parkfield, CA. His father died in 1891, and his mother bought a house in San Jose on 8th street. He attended the "Redmond" grammar school in Parkfield, CA. He helped his brothers on the ranch until it was sold in 1912. He met Mary Florence Hamlin, and was married in 1917. He went to France during WW1. He worked in Hornitos, CA as a ranch foreman, and raised his 3 children there during the 1920's. They attended the one room school there. He also worked in Fountain Valley, and Coalinga, as well as Pond, CA. He was a state branding inspector in Tulare and Kern Counties in California when he died of heart failure.
