CHILLICOTHE -- Theodore N. "Ted" Smith, 80, of 114 Pinewood Park died at 1:42 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born July 31, 1916, in Kansas City, Kan., to Edward F. and Lona D. Norris Smith, he married Virginia M. Huebner on June 20, 1994, in Ludington, Mich. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary M. of Dunlap and Roger A. of Chillicothe; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Bonnie) Fitch of Peoria; one stepson, Michael R. Huebner of Metamora; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Smith.

He was a machinist at the Mossville Caterpillar Inc. plant, retiring in 1982. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he was a member of the Navioneers and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Davison-Fulton Anderson Chapel in Chillicothe, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Kathleen Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in LaSalle Cemetery in Chillicothe.

Memorials may be made to Rescue 33.
