BUSHNELL, Genevieve Prestera
Our beloved Genevieve passed away peacefully on October 23, 2007in Dayton, NV. Born in Bradford, PA July 1, 1921 she attended St. Bernard's High School of Bradford. Genevieve went to the University of Buffalo, NY where she received a BA and obtained her Masters from Columbia University. After working for TIME magazine she moved to Lancaster, CA in the 1950's where she taught school for both LA City and County. Genevieve held a lifetime teaching credential for grades 1 to 8 from the State of California. In 1969 Gen opened the Domenico Preschool in Lancaster, where along with her husband Fred she taught for some 30 years. Known to all as Mrs. "B" her legacy of education and family is evident in the hundreds of children she taught over her 45 years as a teacher. Genevieve is preceded in death by her father and mother, Domenic & Concetta Prestera her sister Marianne McCarthy and her brothers Michael, Vincent and Eugene Prestera. She is survived by her husband Fredrick Bushnell of Dayton, NV, stepdaughters Dianna Kelly and Teddy Flagg, sister-in-law Ligia Prestera, and nieces Michele Craig, Kitty Cline, Alicia Kouleyan and Yvette Alvarado. Nephews Michael Prestera Jr. Robert Prestera, Mark Vincent Prestera, Daniel Prestera, Anthony Prestera, John Prestera, Eugene Prestera, five grandchildren and many grandnieces and grandnephews. We invite all who knew and loved Genevieve to attend a memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster, CA on November 12th at 10:00am to celebrate her life. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Prestera Foundation, 3375 US Route 60 East, Huntington, WV 25705. Condolences can be sent to the Bushnell and Prestera Families C/O Dan & Dianna Kelly 514 Crabapple Ln., Dayton, NV 89403.
