Howard L. Bechtel, 75, died Dec. 2, at Wade Park Veteran's Hospital, Cleveland, after a long illness.
He was born in Reading, Pa., and lived in Akron for 35 years. Mr. Bechtel retired in 1970 from the AC&Y Railroad after 27 years service. He was a World War II veteran of the Army and the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by sons Earl, of Redford, Mich. Terry and Carl, both of Akron, William of Newbern, N.C., daughters Nadine, of Randolph, Gale, Akron; seven grandchildren; brothers Daniel, of Fleetwood, Pa., Edwin of Reading, Pa., sisters Maggie Fitzgerald of Kutztown, Pa., Helen Duff of Temple, Pa.
Funeral services Friday, 11 a.m. at the Hopkins Funeral Home 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Rev. James F. Weibrecht officiating. Burial Hillside Memorial Park...The family suggests memorials to the Ohio Lung Association.
