Reade, Isabel Morrison Byrne New Bern, NC (formerly of Ann Arbor)
Age 85, died November 20, 2008.
She was born in Birmingham, AL on August 3, 1923 the daughter of Roger L. and Frances Clare Weadock Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William P. Byrne.
Isabel is survived by her sons, Michael Byrne Reade of Boulder, CO; Timothy Byrne Reade and wife Joy of Huntington Woods, MI; and her daughter Alison Reade Diver of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Frances Reade of San Francisco, CA; Christopher Reade of Huntington Woods, MI; and Wesley Diver of Middletown, MI; and her former husband Maxwell O. Reade of Ann Arbor. She is also survived by several cousins, many friends and former students.
She spent most of her life in Ann Arbor where she earned AB and MA degrees at The University of Michigan and spent many years at the LS&A Freshman-Sophomore Academic Counseling Office. She taught Spanish at Eastern Michigan University. After retiring, she moved to New Bern where she made many friends and volunteered as a reader with the Radio Reading Service for the blind. She will always be remembered for her generous spirit, loyalty, compassion, poetry, love of literature and dedication to social justice. A celebration of Isabel's life will be held at her home in New Bern from 2 - 4 on Sunday, November 23, 2008. A memorial service will be held in Ann Arbor at a later date.
