Salisbury, MA - On Friday, September 25, 2020, Shirley Chretien-Allard, mother and matriarch of the family, passed away at the age of 83 after a brief illness at Highpoint House in Haverhill, Mass.
She was born on September 4, 1937, to the late Henry and Agnes Chretien and was the youngest of eight children. She attended local schools in the area and went on to Lowell Technical Institute. She also attained aviation training school certification and a real estate license. She was a motel and beauty salon owner, along with income property all in Salisbury, the home town she loved. She was very active in local town government being a member of the Chamber of Commerce, ZBA and was a chairperson on the Board of Health. She was married to the late Clarence Allard Jr. in 1956.
Shirley had a passion for antique cars, furniture and jewelry. She loved all animals, particularly cats and owned two prize winning felines. Family and friends were very important to her and she always made time to help or guide them when asked. She will certainly be missed by those fortunate enough to know her strong personality and loving friendship. As long as we never forget her, Shirley will never truly leave us. Please know that she didn't want family and friends to mourn because her life is over, she wanted you to smile because her life happened. Wish Shirley god's speed on this new journey, knowing that for her, eternal life and the best, is yet to come.
A private memorial service for family will be scheduled in the coming days, details are tentative due to the current COVID pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Shirley Allard's name be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952 or at: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/MRFRS.
Arrangements are by E. V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA 01913.
