She was born April 6, 1918, at Mont Ida to Jessie Marion and Effie Armetta (Houser) Vanderslice.
She lived at Osage City and moved to Ottawa in the 1940s.
She attended Hawkins School in Franklin County and schools in Ottawa and Waverly.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5901 Auxiliary, Ottawa.
She worked at the Hercules Powder Plant, DeSoto, for five years. She also worked at the Bruce Co. which was later the H.D. Lee Co., Ottawa, for more than 25 years. She retired as a supervisor in 1985.
She married Edward DeCock March 19, 1936, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1980.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia A. Griffin, and her husband, Rex, Rosemary Ledom, and her husband, Harry, Diana Dee Brannan, and her husband, Paul, and Kathy English, and her husband, Robert, all of Ottawa; sons, Donald DeCock, and his wife, Shirley, and Alfred DeCock, and his wife, Linda, all of Ottawa; sisters, Leona Brown, Wichita, and Evelyn Powell, Topeka; 26 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Merle Cruces; brothers, Curtis Vanderslice and Alfred Vanderslice; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
