VICTOR EARLE DOWNING

Born: January 26, 1922 at Atoka, Oklahoma at the homeplace where he resided at the time of his death. He was the son of Ray O. and Ida E. (Cruse) Downing.

Mr. Downing was 78 yrs - 5 months - and 19 days at time of his passing.

He passed away Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the Texoma Medical Center at Denison, Texas.

Education: Mr. Downing attended Atoka Schools and graduated from Atoka High School in 1942.

Married: Vernia Ann McAfee Boughman on June 1, 1946 at Atoka, Oklahoma.

Occupation: He worked as a delivery man for Peoples Ice Company and then began a career spanning some 42 plus years for Public Service Company. He retired in 1984.

Church Affiliation: He was a lifelong member and served as a trustee of the First United Methodist Church in Atoka, OK

Vic served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees during WWII. He later served some 3 years in the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Divison, 120th Medical Regiment. He served 20 years as a volunteer fireman in Atoka. He served on the Atoka City Council and was the Police Commissioner at one time.
