Reverend Haskel Henry was born on December 21, 1894 in rural Putnam County, Tennessee, the son of George Franklin "Frank" Henry (1871–1942) and Artimeasie "Artie Mesie" (Horn) Henry (1873–1897). {Although his Death Certificate has him born on December 22nd, his World War I Draft Registration Card has it as December 21st, as does his Delayed Certificate of Birth, which certificate was filed in 1958.}

He attended Vanderbilt University and over the years pastored churches in Rayon City, Bordeaux, Ashland City, Manchester and Glendale.

He was married on June 10, 1914 in White County to Lyda Lou Little (13 Jan 1892-22 Aug 1985), who was born in Sparta, the daughter of John C Little and Mattie G (Hackey) Little.

Retiring in 1960 as pastor of Elm Street Methodist Church, Haskell was living at 2110 Portland Avenue in Nashville and was 67 years old and married when he had a stroke and died on July 16, 1962 at Saint Thomas Hospital.

Survivors included his wife Lyda, daughters Mrs H W Clark of Dechard, Tennessee and Mrs Joseph N Charlette and Miss Mary Jo Henry of Nashville, sister Mrs Ethel Bohanan of Cookeville and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on July 18th at Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Lyda Henry of 2110 Portland Avenue as the informant. Additional info is from his published obituary in The Tennessean on July 17, 1962.

~ Mary Jo Henry (30 Jun 1932-5 Jan 2001) single
~ Artimeasie Henry (10 Sep 1934-18 Jan 2006 ) married Joseph N Charlette
