Delvina B. "Dell" Patterson, 94, of Hampshire County, West Virginia passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at Greenfield Reflections of Strasburg.

Mrs. Patterson was born in 1925 in Limestone, Maine, the daughter of the late Amos and Anna Bishop. Her life were her horses…she is well remembered for her love of Morgan Horses; having bred and raised several. Dell was often seen riding her stallion, Sampson. Then his son, Rocky, took his place and Dell drove him many, many miles in harness. She worked with the Potomac Morgan Horse Club, and was part of the Free Wheelers in West Virginia, promoting driving horses. Dell was also active in 4H Judging Clinics, helping many young people in their love for horses.

Dell loved the Lord with all her heart and was a blessing to her church families. She was one of the founding members of Fellowship Bible Church and served the church faithfully. Dell also attended Lighthouse Assembly of God in Paw Paw, West Virginia and later Winchester Church of God.

Her husband of 58 years, Samuel A.W. Patterson, preceded her in death in 2007.

Surviving are her children, Doreen "Bunny" Burch (Michael) of Paw Paw, West Virginia, Daniel W. Patterson of Baltimore, Maryland, and Florence "Polly" Breeden (Roger) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; grandsons, Gary Harshman of Sumter, South Carolina, George Sabato of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Matthew Burch of Gaithersburg, Maryland; great grandchildren, Kiana Navarro of Springfield, Virginia and Wesley and Grace Harshman of Hancock, Maryland; and sister, Margaret LaPointe of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Winifred Sirkus and brothers, Fred, Mack, and Ray Bishop.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dell's memory to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601 or Forever Morgans Rescue Program, P.O. Box 994, Molalla, Oregon 97038.
