Frank R. Spatola Sr., 79, passed away at his home in Upper Deerfield Township on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2007, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Frankfort, N.Y., and was a longtime Bridgeton area resident, residing in Upper Deerfield for most of his adult life. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Kerin) Spatola. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Spatola was employed by the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for 37 years. He had been a member of the Gold Emblem Club and the Quarter Century Club at Owens. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Rosenhayn, and his interests and hobbies included serving as an umpire and coach at North Cumberland Little League. He also enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes and billiards, and was a member of the Italian-American Political Club in Bridgeton. In addition, Mr. Spatola loved golfing and was proud of the "hole-in-one" he recorded at Wild Oaks Country Club. His love of country and western music was well recognized, and he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and harmonica for his family.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by one daughter, Linda Lowe and her husband Thomas of Granby, Colo.; three sons, Joseph Spatola and wife Carolann of Pittsgrove Township, Frank R. Spatola Jr. and wife Barbara of Deerfield Township and Ronald K. Spatola of Hopewell Township; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Spatola, Frank R. Spatola III, Stefanie Spatola, Joseph Spatola Jr., Diana Carr, Christopher Lowe, Ryan Hoover and Bradley Welden; one brother, Thomas Spatola of Upper Deerfield Township; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Spatola was predeceased by his parents, Guisseppe and Josephine Pizzo Spatola; three sisters, Anna Speranza, Jennie Dileo and Betty Calabrese; and three brothers, Joseph, Carl and Samuel Spatola.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral, which will originate at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, and will be followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Liturgy at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Morton Avenue, Rosenhayn.

The burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rosenhayn.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
