Ethels maiden name was Clark. She was the oldest girl in her family. Her and her husband John E. Oakes wed in Drew County Arkansas on Febuary 2, 1921 by J.W. Hicks then moved to California where their son Johnny was born. They moved back to Monticello, Arkansas and bought a house 2 1/2 miles from the town. Ethel died suddenly and her son was raised by his grandparents (Johns parents).Her parents were Walter Henderson Clark
