George L. Andersen was born October 31, 1902 in Aro Island, Denmark, the fourth child of Jens and Marie Andersen. He died at the University hospital at Iowa City August 10, 1954, at the age of 51 years, 9 months and 10 days.
Mr Andersen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Denmark. He came to America with this brother, Claus, in 1913, to make his home with his brother, Pete, on a farm near Kimballton. He completed his schooling in the country school near the farm home of his brother.
He was united in marriage December 10, 1927, to Ruth Petersen of Jacksonville. To this union were born five children; Patricia (Mrs Ann Morgan), Dewey, Ella Marie (Mrs Olmstead), George, Jr., and Marie Lou.
He is survived by his wife and the five children. Also his mother, a brother, Mads and six sisters, Anna, Margaret, marie, Sene, Bertha and Petra, all in Denmark, and his other two brothers, Claus of Harlan and Pete of Walnut, also three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Harlan Friday, August 13, with the Rev. John C. Bruce of St. John's Lutheran church in Dunlap, in charge. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donal Dent, Joseph Klein, Ben Siemer, Jack Siemer, Walter Igon and Richard Goetzinger.
