Leonard Eugene Booth, 89, passed away on July 7, 2019 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Born on March 26, 1930 to William Leonard Booth and Marie King Booth in Rushville. Leonard was the fourth of five children. His siblings Richard, Everett, Alice and Joe all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Lois Ann Mohr Booth (born in Rushville). Married in Kentucky on June 12, 1948, they celebrated their 71st anniversary just before his passing. They had four children: Stephen Phillip, Jayne Ann, Michael Lynn and William Scott. In 1957 they relocated to Riviera Beach, FL where Leonard worked as an inspector at Pratt Whitney Aircraft. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. After retiring they moved to Hendersonville, N.C., where Leonard built their mountain home and enjoyed building custom homes for others. With the purchase of an RV, they enjoyed traveling. Leaving their mountain home they settled in Riviera Beach, FL., in the winters and Hendersonville in the summers. There Leonard could once again have a garden and enjoy the canning his bride would do with his bounty while still enjoying the mountains. He loved playing games and cards daily with Lois and their friends. In his later years he enjoyed riding his tricycle to roam the RV park and visit friends. Watching sports was once of his favorite pastimes, especially golf and NASCAR. Always ready to eat, his favorite food was a pizza from a local place, and his place of choice for birthday celebrations. When he and Lois moved to an apartment in an assisted living complex in February, 2019 in Tequesta, FL, it was surprising that his only complaint was that they fed them too much.
He loved family gatherings, displaying his silly grin and his always surprising, but humorous wisdom and comments. What fun he had when he was teasing or bantering with his grown grandchildren. He recently attended a baby shower for an upcoming great grandchild and when asked how he liked it, his response was "Well it is not on my go back to list!" If he could, his life with family would now be on his "go back to list"!
In addition to his wife, Leonard is survived by his children and their spouses: Stephen (Bonnie), Jayne Harrington (Gary), Michael (Anne) and William (Lori); seven grandchildren: Stephen Booth II, Melissa Booth, Janet (Josh) Page, Charles (Courtney) Booth, John Booth, Meredith (Joshua) Kloster and Kyle (Samantha) Booth; six great grandchildren Hunter Booth, Dayna Bilyou, Alexis Page, Jordyn Page, Katelyn Page, and Joshua Kloster; and one future great granddaughter Savannah Booth.
There are no arrangements at this time for a service. Interment will be at a later date at the East Hill Cemetery/Mausoleoum in Rushville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trustbridge Hospice, 3360 Burns Rd.
