Alice M. (Serventi) Abbott, 83, of Millville, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 4, 2007, at her residence.

Born and raised in Avonmore, Pa., she moved to Millville in 1946. She worked briefly for Armstrong Cork Co., and married and raised her family. She had just celebrated her 59th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Abbott played an active role in the family business, which was Abbotts Bakery. She enjoyed taking care of her yard. She was an active sports fan, and a friend to all the neighbors. She was active in Special Olympics and in the Socialites Club. Mrs. Abbott was a second mom to Terry Shaw and other friends of her children.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Abbott Sr.; two sons, Robert Abbott Jr. of Baltimore, and Ronald Abbott of Bridgeton; daughter, Gail Headley and husband Donald of Millville; one sister, Jane Barbieri of Avonmore, Pa.; brother-in-law, Richard Abbott and wife Frances of Millville; two grandchildren, Allison Headley and Erin Abbott, both of Millville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville.
