DEATH OCCURS
IN A HOUSE WHERE THREE
OTHERS ARE VERY ILL.

Aged Woman Succumbs to Disease,
Leaving Her Companions in a
Deplorable Condition.

A most deplorable condition exists at 521 North Twelfth street, where an aged woman, Mrs. Tucker, died Saturday night about 8 o'clock.

Mrs. Tucker took ill several days ago with measles and soon contracted pneumonia. Following this three more grown women living in the house also contracted measles and all now have pneumonia.

A few days ago City Physician Robert Rivers took charge of the cases but could not save Mrs. Tucker on account of her age, which was between 70 and 80 years. The police have been looking for the occupants of the house since the old woman's illness was first reported to them. They do not know anything about Mrs. Tucker nor have they the names of the other three women, who are now dangerously sick.

The house is a small affair and the women are in destitute circumstances. Police Captain Joe Wood says they are worthy of charity. Owing to the fact that they have very high fever they cannot be removed to the city hospital.

Mrs. Tucker had worked at various places in the city. The other women have lately been employed at local laundries.
