Joyce Vivian Randall Noyce (Dolly), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and true friend died on November 4, 2007 after a very short struggle with Acute Leukemia.
Joyce is survived by her husband Marvin LeRoy Noyce; sister Barbara; four children Marva Linda Kingsbury (husband Van), Robert Randall Noyce (wife Bev), Mark Edward Noyce (wife Susan), and Christopher Adam Noyce; eight grandchildren Rachelle Holt, David Sellers, Sean Noyce, Vanessa Kingsbury, Jennifer Kingsbury, Adam Noyce, Shayna Noyce, and Amanda Noyce; and three great grand-children Chase Holt, Ryan Sellers, and Parker Holt. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Lolita Throckmorton Randall; her father, Herman James Randall; and twin daughters, Penny Lee and Peggy Dee (the first conjoined twins born in Utah).
Joyce was born on December 22, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from East High School. Joyce and Marvin were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1949. Joyce was an active member of the LDS church; she held many callings including Relief Society president, chorister, Road Show Writer/ Director, and Young Women's Instructor. She loved teaching cooking and home skills to the young women in her ward. She and her husband, Marvin, were workers in the Bountiful Temple for two years. Joyce was a strong individualist with a flamboyant nature.
She loved bright colors, flashy clothes, and shoes. The nickname "Dolly" began because of her resemblance to Dolly Pardon. Joyce loved life, was always cheerful, and loved a good joke. She had a helpful, caring nature, and make friends easily. Joyce possessed many talents: writing poetry, redecorating her home, music, and cooking, but her first love was music. As children, she and her sister danced and sang in local talent shows. Joyce worked as a restaurant cashier/receptionist, moving consultant, and sales person at various businesses. She also enjoyed helping others in need. For ten years, she and her husband were foster parents to over 50 babies. Her longest running and most loved job (27 years) was in the nail business.
In 1980, she opened the doors of "Dolly's Image," where she created artistic nail designs, and spent 21 joyful years working with her granddaughter Rachelle in the salon. Joyce made countless friends by listening to and advising her customers as she filed and polished their nails. She showed her love of family and friends by preparing delicious meals for the holidays. Joyce's favorite quote, "Never rest on your laurels," was a rule by which she lived her life even through the many difficulties she faced. Joyce will be dearly missed.
