Bethene Durden Chapman -ADRIAN - Memorial services for Bethene Durden Chapman, age 84, will be held at 2P.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Billy Wicker will officiate.
Mrs. Chapman was born on January 7, 1927 in Adrian, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John Quincy and Lizzie Hutcheson Durden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Chapman, and by a son-in-law, Charles Madison Dickens.
She was retired as a city clerk for the City of Adrian where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Adrian Baptist Church. She was a Para Professional for Emanuel County School System. She was retired Chapman's Superette Store. She served as a greeter for Wal-Mart in Dublin and Swainsboro.
Mrs. Chapman passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Serenity Place. Mrs. Chapman is survived by her daughter, Darlene Chapman Dickens of Adrian; two grandchildren, Lynn Marie Dickens, and Natalie Lopez of Adrian; a sister-in-law, Mildred Chapman Witherington of Gray; seven nephews, Omar (Nell) Durden of Adrian, Ray (Betty Ann) Durden of Columbus, Stoney Durden of Schertz, TX, Stan (Jan) Witherington of Winder, Rev. Billy (Grace) Wicker of East Dublin, Luke (Sue) Wicker of Perry, and Ronnie Wicker of Dublin; four nieces, Melise (Rick) Faith of Gray, Candy (Russ) Durin of New Mexico, Sandra (Charlie) Wright of Table Rock, and Linda Lamb of Atlanta, and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Chapman to Serenity Place at 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, Georgia 31021. -Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
