The former Bernice Dittmann was born on April 9, 1933 in the Township of Centerville, daughter of the late Walter and Hertha (Bratz) Dittmann. She was a graduate of Kiel High School with the class of 1950. On June 20, 1953 she married to LeRoy Schnell at St. John-St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Cleveland. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2017. Bernice worked at the Herald Times Reporter until her retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and a former 4H leader in Cleveland. Bernice enjoyed baking, camping and fishing.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Rodney Schnell and special friend Cecelia Feltes, Jon (Jean) Schnell; one daughter and son-in-law: Joanne (John) Menz; three grandchildren: Andrew (Katie) Schnell, Ryne Schnell, Melissa Schnell; one great granddaughter: Sawyer Schnell; one brother: Henry Dittmann; one sister: Arline Haese; and her extended family: Kevin, Erica, Kyle and Hannah Feltes, Brian, Nichol, Jonathan and Molli Feltes, Rhonda, Kaitlyn and Jadyn Deehr, Tracy, Don, Josh and Jessica Sabrowski, Glenn and Guiping Gu Feltes. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Hertha Dittmann; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ernst and Emma Schnell; one sister-in-law: Beverly Dittmann; and one brother-in-law: Ronald Haese.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 916 Pine Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Matt Zimpelmann with entombment at the Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth, on Monday.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church Manitowoc, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m.
