Adrian Frederick Dinges, Jr. passed away April 24, 2021, at his home in Bleiblerville, TX, with his family by his side.
Better known as "Fred" or "Deacon Fred," he was born on September 6, 1946, in Kansas City, KS, where he grew up before meeting his beloved wife of over 50 years, Ruth. Fred joined the US Navy as a Corpsman and also served with the Marines. After the military, Fred and Ruth moved to Texas so Fred could attend Grad school at Texas A&M.
Fred spent many years traveling around the country in Pharmaceutical Sales before he found his true passion in the Lord. His deep spirituality and love for Jesus is what led Fred to be Ordained as a Permanent Deacon in 2003. Deacon Fred's passion was to minister to people with true compassion and love, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Deacon Fred always found time to listen to someone in need or to say a quick prayer with them.
When Fred, known as "Papa" to the grandkids, wasn't at church, he loved taking his grandkids on tractor rides, checking his cows, and watching amazing Texas sunsets.
We will miss his quick wit, his smiling face and his loving heart.
Deacon Fred is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Adrian and wife Kellie and Christopher and wife Chanda; eight grandchildren, Bailey, Rileigh, Hayden, Haleigh, Kinleigh, Cole, Cori, and Carly; a sister, Laura Caulfield and husband John; and two brothers, Ed Dinges and wife Beverly and Ted and wife Patty.
Friends are invited to visit with the family between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 19222 TX-249, Houston, TX 77070, where a Vigil will immediately follow visitation. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the church. A committal service with military honors will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to either the Mercy Ministry at Prince of Peace Catholic Community or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, 5356 11th Street, Katy, TX 77493.
