Funeral rites were said for Wiley P. Stringer well known Kokomo farmer, Wednesday, January 6 at 10:30 at the Kokomo Methodist Church. Rev. J.A. Bryant, pastor of the Kokomo Baptist Church and the Rev. Ernest Alexander, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbia officiated at the final rites. Mr. Stringer had been in failing health for the past nine years. He died Monday at his home. Born August 23, 1877, he was the son of Noah Stringer and Myhalia King Stringer. He married Mattie Ellzey and the couple lived in Walthall county all of their lives. Nephews of the family were pallbearers. Survivors include three sons; Max Stringer, Kokomo, J.N. Stringer, Columbia, Murray D. Stringer, Ridgeland; one daughter; Mrs. Woodrow Magee, Tylertown; one brother, Ben C. Stringer, Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Maude Williams, Jackson, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Burial was in Tylertown Cemetery with Hartmans of Tylertown in charge.
