George William Brooks was the son of William Brooks and Elizabeth Mole, both of Bedfordshire, England.

George W. Brooks married (Possibly New York or Pennsylvania), about 1859, Mary Elizabeth Crawshaw of Yorkshire, England (daughter of Elisha Crawshaw and Mary Hollingsworth).

George and Mary Elizabeth Brooks were the parents of 7 children. The first 5 born in Chemung County, New York and the last two in Steuben County, New York.
