Mary Ruth Fuqua, 92, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Colonial Lodge Retirement Center.
Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at Roxton First Baptist Church with James Jackson officiating. Interment follows at Restland Cemetery. Visitation is to be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was the youngest daughter of W.A. and Stella Burge, born in Hugo, Okla., in 1917. She grew up in Paris and attended Paris schools and Paris Business College. She married Arthur Fuqua of Roxton in 1940 in Hugo and they made their home in Roxton. He preceded her in death in 1995. She attended First Baptist Church in Roxton where she taught both adult and children's Sunday school classes for many years. She retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She never had any children of her own, but doted on her 10 nieces and nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fuqua; parents, W.A. and Stella Burge; brothers, Alfonzo and Paul; and her sister, Catherine.
