NORTH PEKIN -- Jeanette R. Hicks, 87, of 4327 Long Lake Road SE, Port Orchard, Wash., formerly of North Pekin until 1951, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1998, at her home.

Born April 21, 1910, in Falmouth, Mass., to Martin L. and Catherine Phelan Rogers, she married Lucas I. Hicks on Oct. 10, 1929, in Falmouth. He died Jan. 4, 1964, in Seattle. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen, four sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are six daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Gardner of North Pekin, Mrs. Norman (Nellie) Porch of St. Louis, Catherine Morrow of Phoenix, Winifred Lake of Mercer Island, Wash., Helen Chamblee of Bellevue, Wash., Linda Simmons of Portland, Ore.; one son, John of Australia; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at LaSalle Cemetery in Rome, Ill. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to any charity.
