Born and raised in Birmingham, Jim graduated from W.A. Berry High School in 1977. After graduation he met the love of his life Leigh Anne Gray, whom he married in 1983. Jim's three passions in life were the Lord, his family, and his work. He was a long time member of Hunter Street Baptist Church where he enjoyed to learn, worship, and fellowship with his Sunday School class. At a very young age, Jim became a member of Green Valley Country Club, now Hoover Country Club. There, he enjoyed playing golf, watching his two sons grow and develop, and making lifelong friends that he loved very much. For over forty years, Jim worked alongside his father, Dr. Robert H. Freeman, D.M.D. and his brother, Dr. John C. Freeman, D.M.D. at Freeman and Freeman, D.M.D., P.C. Working side by side with his family brought Jim great pride and joy, as did serving the many patients that were positively impacted by him and the family practice. The Freeman family would like to thank the group of doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at St. Vincent's Hospital. Additionally, the family would also like to thank the caring group of nurses at Compassus Hospice, we are grateful for your love, compassion, and care during this difficult time. And to Yvonne Hunt-you have been a member of the Freeman family for many years now. Words cannot express how thankful for you that we are. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:00am at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel with the service to follow at 11:00. Burial will immediately follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The service will be directed by Bill Decker, Executive Pastor at Hunter Street Baptist Church, and Jonathan Rodgers, Minister of Music at Hunter Street Baptist Church
