Iola Brown was born in Lebanon Oregon to Carl and Lottie Bahrke. She was 105 years old when she passed away.

Iola was the oldest of 4 children and grew up in Oregon and Canada. She graduated from Lebanon HS and from Southern Oregon State Normal School in Ashland, Oregon.

She taught school, worked in retail facilities organization, and worked in management for May Company. She retired in 1982 and moved to Oceanside, where she was active in the Oceanside Sewing Guild, the Oceanside Women's Club and various community and volunteer groups. She particularly enjoyed traveling and playing cards, hosting card groups two times a week until shortly before she passed away.

Her love of life and sense of humor were enlivened by her keen intelligence. She lived her life to the fullest and was a true friend and inspiration to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life was held June 12 at the Rancho Calevero Mobile Home Park Clubhouse.
