Roger R. Sager

Mishicot - Peacefully and surrounded by family at his side, Roger R. Sager, age 77 of rural Mishicot passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 20, 2021 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Roger was born in Kewaunee on July 15, 1943 to Clarence and Mildred (Augustine) Sager. He was a 1961 graduate of Kewaunee High School. Roger worked at Hamilton Mfg. in Two Rivers for several years and later worked as a skilled carpenter for Robert Borkovitz and Hoffman Bros. Construction until his retirement in 2003. On October 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jeanne F. Svoboda at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in East Krok. The couple was blessed with three children and 56 years of marriage.

Roger and Jeanne had a love for polka dancing and vacationing all over the country with friends. He loved to play cards and board games, figuring out any kind of puzzle, and being with his grandkids and great-grandkids always brought a smile. Roger enjoyed caring for his many dogs throughout the years, he had a passion for antique cars, was an avid bird lover, and was always watching the Packers, Brewers, and Nascar. His generous heart also had him devoting hours to volunteering with the Kewaunee Heritage Farm.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeanne; one son, Keith Sager of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Candy (Tom) Vincent of Tisch Mills and Tanya (Thom) Steger of Mosinee; his grandchildren: Amber Lopez, Zachary Sager, Katrina Taft, Natasha Sager, Kayla Vincent, Miranda Vincent, and Brady Steger; along with ten great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters & one brother-in-law: Bernetta Bultman and Darlene (Kenny) Swintosky. Other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Lester Svoboda, Wayne (Diane) Svoboda, Randy Svoboda, Elizabeth (Ralph) Zellner, Faye (Leonard) Conard, JoAnn Svoboda, Darlene (Jim) Legois, Laura Robinson, Sheila (Dan) Vincent, Lucas Ratajczak, and Larry Hanko; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his godchildren, especially Michelle Zellner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mildred Sager; father & mother-in-law: Maynard and Pearl Svoboda; three sisters and several in-laws: Karen (Gary) Paulsen, Sandy (Edwin) Enfors, Diane Ratajczak, Ed Bultman, Maynard Svoboda, Jr, and Gail Hanko.

Due to the current pandemic, a memorial mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at a future date to be announced.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, especially Dr. Suraj Arora for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Roger throughout his illness. A note of gratitude also to the members of the Mishicot Ambulance Service for their quick response and life saving efforts.
